Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a useful tool in order to assess the environmental aspects and the potential impacts related to a product, process or service throughout its life cycle.

 

LCA Working Group is a research group of the Department of Engineering Sciences and Methods of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, established not only with the aim of offering consultancy and solutions to enterprises, public administration and citizens interested in promoting the development of an environmentally friendly society and in reducing the environmental impact of human activities. We also aims at strengthening the research activities for enhancing the LCA methodology.

More specifically our research center is strongly committed to solve issues related to:

-   developing of new indicators

-   changing the Environmental Impact Assessment methods

-   developing of an Italian database

-   developing of an Italian software

The interdisciplinary approach of the Department of Engineering Sciences and Methods and the cooperation with the Interdepartmental Research Center EN&Tech, gives the LCA Working  Group the opportunity to collaborate with research groups operating in different areas, such as Science and Technology of Materials, Mechanical Industrial Plants, Logistics, Machinery, Technical Physics and Construction Science. Throughout the years projects and activities have been developed and shared so as to broaden LCA application to the following areas:

-  Energy

-  Waste

-  Materials

-  Construction Industry

-  Agriculture

-  Cultural Heritage

-  Events

-  National Economic System
